Had lots of rain the last 2 weeks. I wonder if by 6 weeks, the sample will have vanished?

Finally had some rain. Had been pouring water on burial site a couple times a week to try to help decomposition but not working.

There was a tunnel dug behind the linen square. At first, I had a little difficulty locating my fabric square, but then found it where I had buried it, a couple of inches in front of the tunnel. Possibly a mole (or maybe fairy miners!)???

The leaf and twigs are decomposing and the fabric is dirtier.

I don’t see any decomposition but it looks like more dirt is embedded in the fabric

We've had an unusually wet summer, I imagine there would be even less decomposition given the typical lack of humidity and decomposed granite soil. I also wonder if altitude plays a part? (I'm at 8000 feet)

There was nothing in the hole! But, before digging spotted these beauties right on top (see the stick)! We did have a week of rain when I first planted…..

My marker stakes were gone, so I had to dig around to find the sample and this was all I could find. Not sure if the other 2 samples will survive weeks 6 and 8.
