This garment is made to your custom body measurements. Please consult my sizing guidelines for how to take your measurements properly. In the photos, Leah is 5' 1" tall; chest 32", waist 31", hips 37".
100% linen, softened, medium weight.
OEKO-TEX Certified as free of harmful toxins and chemicals.
I love linen because of its strength and durability. Linen is considered to be the strongest of all-plant-based fibers, and gets stronger and softer with washes! I also love it for its low environmental impact, breathability, comfort, and versatility. I thrive on the natural wrinkles in the fabric... it's a lifestyle.
This fabric is very opaque (not see-through), so you'll find Charlie Darwin garments are perfectly breezy and freeing to wear with or without a bra, and with most shades of underwear.
For most colors, I use pigments from plants to hand-dye the fabric and achieve rich earth tones.
The black fabric is still wonderfully eco-conscious and skin-sensitive! This blackest black linen fabric is AZO-free and OEKO-TEX certified free from harmful toxins, dyed in California following strict US environmental regulations.
The white fabrics are undyed.
See the second photo for color options. Learn more about my dyes here.
Care: Please machine wash cold & delicate with like colors, then hang dry, or tumble dry on a delicate setting until 90% dry. For longer-lasting color, wash with a neutral pH detergent and avoid drying in high heat or direct sunlight.
Mend: I believe the garments you love should outlive you. So, I include a complimentary mending kit with every order, which contains matching scrap fabric, matching thread, a sewing needle, and a guide to visible mending. Repair is noble!
Compost: From soil to soil, the lifecycle of this garment can go full circle if you would like to compost it. Linen, a fabric made from the flax plant, is durable enough to withstand a lifetime of adventures, but can also decompose back into the earth when buried in soil! When this garment gets totally 'worn out', follow these steps
- Cut out and discard the seams
- Cut the remaining fabric into 2-3" pieces
- Mix them into your compost pile, garden, etc, and watch them disappear over 2-10 weeks!
