A couple of days after the linen burial, my husband saw the Week 2 sample unearthed, but the linen square was lying beside the marker on the ground. I’m sure it happened sometime within the previous day, so it was not exposed out of the hole for long. The square was intact…I suspect a squirrel was the culprit (this is my fairy glen, so perhaps a fairy)! I re-buried it and there were no more unearthing incidents.

Seedlings growing over the burial site. I was surprised how advanced the decomposition was on the outer layers. The fastening was already disintegrated.
