Didn't have rain every day like we've been having. The weeks 2 & 4 were both on the outsides of the raised bed. Wondering if this week 6 didn't stay as wet at the previous 2 as this one isn't as deteriorated as week 4. It did split in 2 but managed to align the 2 pieces together.

Missed the 4 week mark (husband was having surgery, sorry!), so wanted to be sure and get week 6 excavated. I sifted through the entire hole, and this was all I found! Very surprised, since we have heavy clay soil here in Denver, but I support the unusually wet summer has made a big difference.

Week 6. There was nothing left of the fabric. Up until now, roots from plants have gone into the fabric so my guess is that these roots, which came from plants several inches away in different directions, is where the fabric was.

I had rebundled my book after week 4, but the binding is gone at week 6, as well as further decompostion.

I did not find any fabric. I dug down and there were lots of roots I unearthed and no fabric.

I buried the squares under my milk weed and across the stone path my meditation book is buried for final two weeks of experiment. I am very curious to see what differences in deterioration there is between the two. See you in two weeks

Summer Solstice seems to be a perfect day for this step. It is a beautiful, sunny day.
The ground is very hard, clay like and I needed a pick ax to make the hole. I picked a spot near some wild flowers and where there is some moss on the earth. My dog, Roscoe had to see what I buried. I placed a gnome near by to guard the site. Such fun!

I buried my book at the edge of the woods in my yard in an open area so rain could reach the burial spot. It has been pretty dry here but there have been a few days of hard rain in the last couple of weeks since the book has been underground.

Soil was damp due to recent rain but not soaking wet. It's a nice pleasant evening. We dug up a weed and replaced it with my fabric book.
