Not much change in fabric. A little fraying on the last page and some discoloration. Book buried in high desert climate. Received five days of rain and one hail storm. Soil was moist when I dug up the book and a few worms were present.

There is nothing left

I was surprised at how much fabric had deteriorated. But I was also surprised at how many worms were with the fabric. Maybe the worms were dining on the fabric?

I am conducting this experiment in my vermicompost bin. I was unable to find any evidence of linen this week. The other things you might see in the photograph are scraps of shredded paper, bell pepper remnants, and eggshell.

There was no fabric! I looked deeper than 3” and wider but couldn’t find it. Wondering if the others are still there! Can’t wait to find out!

I dug up the week 4 stick and all I found underneath was this scrap. I didn’t believe this was it. I spent 15 minutes sifting through the dirt. I did find a worm.

I was delighted with the color changes and the stains.

There was a small worm on the book when I dug it up. The front and back cover had decomposed more than last time - some tears and small chunk missing from the front cover. The upper right corner with the small stone heart was gone.
