👋 Hi! I'm Leah, the founder of Charlie Darwin Textiles. I sell sewing patterns and plant-dyed linen sewing kits to help earthy & artsy people build their dream linen wardrobes.
After nearly 6 years of doing nearly every task myself (design, customer service, production, partnership coordination, the YouTube channel, etc.), I'm actively transitioning out of being the person who does everything and into more of a creative director role! Woo!!
I'm looking for a reliable, highly organized person to help run online operations for Charlie Darwin Textiles 5-10 hours a week.
What you'd be doing
The work shifts with the season and whatever's most urgent. Here are the projects I have planned for the next 12 months that I'm looking for support on:
Launch of a new program: "Sew Your Dream Linen Wardrobe", a paid program bundling my full pattern catalog + semi-structured guidance through the transformational experience of sewing a cohesive linen wardrobe (community, live sewing sessions, monthly projects). This involves strategizing, planning, and executing pre-launch and launch content (YouTube and email), plus sales pages on the site. Founding-member pre-orders open on Black Friday; program content delivery begins January 2027.
Managing monthly content cadence for 2027: Highlighting one pattern + one artistic challenge per month in the community, publishing two long-form YouTube videos per month, plus supporting emails, community posts, and live sessions. Weekly email newsletters. I'll create (film/write/edit) all the public content, but I need your help scheduling and posting it on time.
Starting & maintaining contractor/vendor/influencer/collaborator relationships: You may be responsible for coordinating (emailing) with the fabric dyer, fabric manufacturer, pattern printer, studio assistant, video editor, future ambassadors, influencer collabs, guest experts.
Sales infrastructure split across Wix + MailerLite + Teachery (Online course & community platform). The hub on Teachery where this new program (SYDLW) will live hasn’t been built out yet, and I will need your assistance in setting it up, proofreading links, and maintaining its day-to-day functioning.
Outside of the SYDLW program, I’ll still be selling sewing patterns, prints, and kits, and managing online inventory will be a part of this.
The ideal person is someone who can take a plan I've sketched at the strategy level, improve it, and run it: draft the influencer outreach and send it, manage the launch content calendar (and hold me accountable to it), own the systems that keep the monthly customer reminders, live sessions, and community posts on schedule, and manage handoffs to my studio assistant and video editor when needed.
Pay
$35 per hour
This is a part-time, remote contractor position.
Who I'm hoping to find
Ideally, someone who thrives in decision-making and strategizing and is not risk-averse
Someone who owns outcomes, rather than waiting for a task list. When we have weekly meetings, you lead them!
Familiarity with the tool stack: Wix, MailerLite, Notion, YouTube, Teachery, Canva (or a strong track record learning new platforms)
North American time zone alignment preferred (I'm in ET)
Experience with product/e-commerce businesses, ideally with a physical product component
Familiarity with a creator/content-driven business (YouTube is a core element)
1+ years of experience in digital operations management (or adjacent)
Bonus: Interest in sewing, crafting, or the arts!
A note on timing
Things are about to get busy! I'm organizing all the plans and creating content for the launch of the SYDLW program in the coming month. Starting soon means jumping in while all the fun strategizing is happening!
