Has anybody tried underlining lightweight linen for a pair of pants?
I'm sewing Olene as short pants using my leftover lightweight linen fabric from the Finch project (pic in the gallery). It was my first time buying linen fabric for sewing, so I didn't quite understand how sheer it was -- next time I'll just get medium and heavyweight. At any rate, I want to put the rest of the fabric to good use and I like to having matching shirt and shorts for warm days Has anbody had experience underlining lightweight linen for a pair of pants? With this same fabric, I'm thinking of underlining the back and the front-inner pieces. I'm thinking the front outer doesn't need underlining, plus it'd have the pockets.

Thanks @Lisa Tymoski and @Leah Widdicombe for your responses! I finally finished the shorts! And I did double-layer the back and the front-inner panels with the same light-weight linen fabric - no regret there. After cutting the back sides, I thought, this may not fit me even though I felt I measured my hips and followed the instruction. So, I adjusted the front inner panels and outer panels by extending them by one inch (four inches total). As I attached them together, I thought it's looking ridiculously too large. I started learning to sew last summer so don't really know what I'm doing but I now feel more comfortable with the sewing machine. I didn't cut up the Olene pattern - I traced it on a pattern paper to not damage the original. I plan to next create Olene long pants in heavy weight linen and medium/heavy-ish stiff denim, but before that, I plan to create a muslin to make sure I get the sizing right. At any rate, I’m happy with the result – I like the deep pockets and being long waisted, the high-rise design. The video tutorial, the instructions in the booklet, and this forum have been really helpful!
