Accessing video tutorials

I purchased the ladybird sewing pattern (pattern pro version) and I am loving the pattern and the process. I’m wondering if anyone knows how to access the video tutorial that comes with the pattern pro version? Thanks for any advice!

Here is what the YouTube search gave me to access your tutorial for ladybird pattern: If you cannot find your access links, follow these steps to retrieve them:

  • Check your inbox: Search for the subject line "Get started with the Ladybird Pattern!". This was sent to the email address used at checkout.

  • Dashboard access: The Pattern Pro tier unlocks a pattern hub dashboardΒ where all step-by-step video tutorials are hosted.

  • Avoid receipt links: Do not rely on the links in your initial order receipt or member login page, as those typically expire after 30 days. The "Get Started" email contains the non-expiring links.

  • Contact support: If you cannot find the email in your spam or promotions folders, contact Leah at Charlie Darwin Textiles directly to have the files resent manually.

Adjusting saltwater set for curvy

Has curvy ladies made the saltwater set? Really not sure how the top is supposed to lay... or if I need an FBA. Please share if you have worked with this pattern.

Not sure if I'm a curvy lady or not, but I've made 3 saltwater tops using the size guides provided with the pattern and I love all of them. I've also made 4 pair of the shorts-3 that I wear in public and 1 for wearing inside as kind of pj bottoms-cause I used light color light weight linen. Again I used the size as recommended with the pattern and the fit is so comfortable. So all that said, I'd suggest trying your recommended size in a wearable toile and see how it goes. Look forward to seeing your finished project!

Has anybody tried underlining lightweight linen for a pair of pants?

I'm sewing Olene as short pants using my leftover lightweight linen fabric from the Finch project (pic in the gallery). It was my first time buying linen fabric for sewing, so I didn't quite understand how sheer it was -- next time I'll just get medium and heavyweight. At any rate, I want to put the rest of the fabric to good use and I like to having matching shirt and shorts for warm days Has anbody had experience underlining lightweight linen for a pair of pants? With this same fabric, I'm thinking of underlining the back and the front-inner pieces. I'm thinking the front outer doesn't need underlining, plus it'd have the pockets.

Thanks @Lisa Tymoski and @Leah Widdicombe for your responses! I finally finished the shorts! And I did double-layer the back and the front-inner panels with the same light-weight linen fabric - no regret there. After cutting the back sides, I thought, this may not fit me even though I felt I measured my hips and followed the instruction. So, I adjusted the front inner panels and outer panels by extending them by one inch (four inches total). As I attached them together, I thought it's looking ridiculously too large. I started learning to sew last summer so don't really know what I'm doing but I now feel more comfortable with the sewing machine. I didn't cut up the Olene pattern - I traced it on a pattern paper to not damage the original. I plan to next create Olene long pants in heavy weight linen and medium/heavy-ish stiff denim, but before that, I plan to create a muslin to make sure I get the sizing right. At any rate, I’m happy with the result – I like the deep pockets and being long waisted, the high-rise design. The video tutorial, the instructions in the booklet, and this forum have been really helpful!

Pattern Manipulation

My son is trans and wants to wear more boxy masculine fitting clothes, but his hips and butt give him away. Does anyone know how to manipulate patterns to camouflage those areas?

Try overalls. They hide your waist while still staying put.

I made my first toile

I made my first mock up for the finch. I did one sleeve short and one 3/4. I'm glad I did the trial run. I would like the short sleeve longer, the 3/4 shorter, and the front bodice a touch longer. I also think I may have gone a size too large based on my ease at the sides. I love the pattern and I'm glad I'm able to dial it in.

Thanks for sharing. I'm preparing to start a project and was thinking of first making it with an old sheet. It never occurred to me to try the different styles on one test garment 🀯.

My first Finch

I just spent the day sewing my first Finch Shirt. I discovered that the fabric I bought at the thrift store was linen. I had just enough to squeeze a Finch out of it. Normally I would have made it a bit longer, but that wasn’t an option. But for 40 DKK (that’s about $6 USD) it was still worth it. So no frillsβ€”short sleeves. Next time it will be a bit longer and with sleeves. It’s simply the best wearable

muslin. The photo is terrible because daylight is in short supply on a gray spring day. β˜οΈβœ‚οΈ

It turned out great! It's such a cute pattern. It's on my make list as well. You're so lucky to find linen at the thrift store!

My next sewing pattern!

Yesterday I put out my seasonal survey for everyone to vote on which pattern I make next, and it looks like the Argent and Sable dress is taking the lead for sure! Thank you to everyone who voted ❀️ I'm excited to make this one, and I think it will be perfect for our spring/summer wardrobe building πŸͺ‘
