Sensitive Skin and going natural
Hi,
I have sensitive skin. While linen is natural, some forms of it feel scratchy. Not to fear, they can be softened and they are at some point.
My mom used linens. I like great linens.
I haven't always had this sensitivity. It crept up on me like and with age.
I am in love with this whole new school and age of natural fibers. It is great.
To cite an experience:
One day I received my online haul of cheap clothing ordered from who knows where. I was so excited that I tried everything on and did a fashion show for my daughter living long distance, via the phone video call.
I broke out into a bad rash directly afterwards.
I had always, but always washed my clothes when ever purchasing, but did I do that before this last time? NO! That rash turned into a long term deal and two trips to two separate dermatologists. The second guy was wearing a fossilized sharks tooth, just to mention, quite the ice-breaker considering it was about 4 inches wide front and center on his neck!
He got me results. I had greatly suffered.
Go natural everyone. I have worked in a rainwear factory, I should have known better. You should always clean your newly purchased fibers before wearing them. there are a lot of pretty grubby things going on in factories, These clothes I'd purchased were from China, or somewhere, I later determined. Let's also mention there are chemical processes that take place at some level of these fibers on their way to you. I am glad to know that Leah is clearly being clear in clarifying her processes and what is going on with the dye situation too.
Thank you for your kind attention to this writing.
Have a wonderful linen experience in the sew up and/or purchased garments!
Cheers friends!

I've been interested in linen for a long time but hadn't taken the plunge until a wore a black long sleeved t-shirt type polyester material outside and was in the hot sun. I'd washed this shirt many times, so it should have been cleared of any of the new t-shirt toxic chemicals.
What happened was that anywhere the sunlight heated the shirt I became very hot and bothered. Overwhelmingly so. It didn't take long for me to go inside and tear the shirt off only to find red welts all over my skin. That was the impetus I needed to begin converting my entire wardrobe away from the plastic clothes to natural fibers and wools/alpaca. Linen is my shining star!
